2. Backed by Kickstarter, Exploding Kittens is a strategic card game which has only one simple aim - avoid getting blown up by those exploding kittens at all costs. Start the game by putting the cards face down and players take turns drawing cards, until someone draws an exploding kitten card.
3. The Barking Kitten cards can either help you or hurt you - when played properly, they'll steal half of your opponent's hand. When played badly, you lose half your hand. Exploding Kittens is a proud partner of Best Friends Animal Society (BFAS), a nation-wide “no-kill” animal rescue, and is matching donations to BFAS added to purchase (up to a total of $25,000!) to help save cats!
4. How To Play In A Nutshell: In the deck of cards are some “Exploding Kittens.” You play the game by putting the deck face down and taking turns. When that happens, that person explodes. They are now dead and out of the game. The more cards you draw, the greater. This process continues until.

Players draw cards until someone draws an Exploding Kitten, at which point they explode, they are dead, and they are out of the game — unless that player has a Defuse card, which can defuse the kitten.

There are 52 cards in the core deck and 4 additional unique cards in the party pack expansion.

Types of cards[edit edit source]

• Annoy card - Disable an amount of cards in the target's hand.
• Attack card - End your turn(s) without drawing and force the next player to take two turns in a row. (not in the mobile version)
• Blind card - Rendering the target blind until they draw a card.
• Cat card - These can be collected as two or three of a kind and used to steal from other players. (not in the mobile version)
• Defuse card - If you drew an Exploding Kitten, you can play this card instead of dying.
• Exploding Kitten card - Unless you have a Defuse card, you're dead.
• Favor card - Force any other player to give you 1 card from their hand. They choose which card to give you.
• Nope card - Stops any action except for an Exploding Kitten card or a Defuse card.
• See the Future card - Peek at the top 3 cards from the Draw Pile and put them back in the same order.
• Shuffle card - Shuffle the Draw Pile without viewing the cards until told to stop.
• Skip card - Immediately end your turn without drawing a card.

SetUp

• 1

  To start, remove all the Exploding Kittens (4) from the deck and set them aside.

• 2

  Remove all of the Defuse Cards (6) from the deck and deal 1 to each player.

• 3

  Insert the extra Defuse Cards back in the deck.

Defuse Cards

Each player is dealt 1 Defuse Card, the most powerful card in the game. These are the only cards that can save you from Exploding Kittens. If you draw an Exploding Kitten, instead of getting exploded, you can play the Defuse Card and reinsert the Kitten back into the Draw Pile anywhere you’d like in secret.
Try to get as many Defuse Cards as possible.

Two or Three Players

Put only 2 of the extra Defuse Cards back into the deck and remove the others from the game.

  Shuffle the remaining deck and deal 7 cards face down to each player.
  Note:If your paper instructions tell you to deal out 4 cards instead of 7, don't believe them. Paper instructions are dirty liars.

• 5

  Insert enough Exploding Kittens back into the deck so that there is 1 fewer than the number of people playing.
  Remove any extra Exploding Kittens from the game.

For Example

For a 4 player game, insert 3 Kittens.
For a 3 player game, insert 2 Kittens.
This ensures that everyone eventually explodes except for 1 person.

• Shuffle the deck, and put it face down in the middle of the table.
• Pick a player to go first. (Some sample criteria: most impressive beard, most intimidating odor, shortest spleen, etc.)
